What is an SLA scorecard?

An SLA scorecard is the recurring report showing performance against agreed service level targets for a period. It covers what was committed, what was achieved, which targets were missed, and the explanation for the misses. Service providers produce one per client. Internal IT teams produce one per service or per business unit.

Scorecards get contested more than any other recurring report, which makes the source of the numbers the whole argument. When the scorecard is generated from the same records the service runs on, the conversation moves from "is this right" to "what do we do about it."

The volume problem is real too. One scorecard a month is a task. Forty scorecards a month, one per client, is a team.
